Julep Maven December

If you haven't heard of Julep, check out their website http://www.julep.com/.  They're a small company based out of Washington state.  For $20 a month they send you a box with around $30-40 worth of nail products.
I've read some concerning blogs regarding their customer service & their referral program.  So far I haven't had any bad luck with them.  I'm going to stick in there for a little bit longer and see what happens.

When you first sign up you take a quiz to help decide which Julep Maven you are.  It doesn't take long & it's pretty fun, after all you get to look at polish colors.  Lets be honest I could do that all day!  After I took the quiz it showed me as a Classic American Beauty, something to that effect anyways.  Every month they will pick out polish & products to send me.  They send you an email to show you what will be in your box & give you an opportunity to see what will be in the other maven boxes.  Then if you don't like what will come to you, you can opt to do a "shelf-pull" for one of the other boxes.  I really like that option.  I may feel funkier one month & want some crazy colors!

You also have the option of skipping a month without being charged, which is nice, or, if you're in a really giving mood you can choose to send your box to a friend for no extra charge.  Both of which are nice, in case you're short on cash or forgot someone's birthday!

I've recieved 2 boxes.  My welcome box I wasn't exeptionally excited about.  It came with a natural apricot hand scrub, which I use every morning before I put lotion on, and 2 colors.  There was a pink color which wasn't anything spectacular, I have multiple bottles of almost identical pinks.  There was also a grey/purple color.  It was pretty.  The formula seems to be decent.  You can get good coverage from one coat and it's 3-free formula which is nice.

My december box I was quite pleased with.  I opted to shelf pull for the "It Girl" box.  It came with more options than the other ones.

Sorry it's crooked!  I've messed with it & messed with it, and I just can't get it to turn back right!

Anyways, This month came with a bright purple called Helena, top coat, nail stickers, and a surprise glitter pot.  I first tried to use the glitter.  They're small gold balls.  It was a disaster!  I'm going to have to mess with them some more and figure out something to do with them.
I've opted to use the nail stickers.  I was very excited about these.  I'm a believer in Sally Hansen's salon effects so I jumped at these.  I read the instructions on the back and according to them, you can just soak your fingers in warm water to remove.

Well it makes sense.  These are more like stickers than the other ones out there.  They're pretty thick which made them hard for me to maneuver on the edge of my nails.  I got them on fairly easy.  I'm not thrilled with how all of them turned out, but I've gotten multiple compliments on them.  Some of the edges are rough, and they've started to peel a little.  I tried putting some more top coat on them but that seemed to make it worse!!

It's something different and easy!  It's a great way to be out the door in a flash if you don't have time to paint your nails.

Please ignore my cuticles, they're awful.  Winter weather wreaks havoc on my hands, it doesn't ever seem to matter how much lotion, cuticle oil, or cuticle cream on, they continue to crack..

Until next time: Love & nail polish!
